Colorful Knives Classes! Exploring Oils with Palette Knives
Whelp… I am doing it!
When I was younger, venturing into a store on my own to buy a gallon of milk for the family was an adventure filled with trepidation. I remember my mother - a busy parent of five idling the car at the curb. She didn’t want to wrangle us all into the store just to get milk. The fear of the unknown and interacting with other humans was terrifying… Ok, so maybe I wasn’t super little. I was 15. But still, the thought of navigating aisles and interacting with strangers filled me with dread. I had to have a lot of persuasion from my momma to get outta the car.
Fast forward to today, and here I am, not only buying my own milk (though I confess, I do have a fondness for the convenience of home deliveries) but also stepping into a new adventure: teaching an in-person art class! Over the past few years, I’ve held classes with friends and family, perfecting my curriculum along the way. And now, I’m thrilled to say, I’m ready to share my passion and knowledge with you! My first in person “Colorful Knives” Class for this Friday, 5/10/24, is almost fully booked. WOW! I am a wee bit nervous, but mostly excited to share my techniques. Can’t make it this week? No worries! I will schedule another class soon. Contact me here to suggest good dates and times.
This in person 3 hour workshop is perfect for artists of all levels who are eager to explore the techniques of palette knife painting. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics or an experienced painter aiming to add texture and looser strokes to your art, this class will provide you with valuable skills and an enjoyable experience.
What You Will Learn:
• Introduction to Color Theory: Brief overview focusing on using a limited palette to achieve color harmony.
• Palette Knife Techniques: Learn how to use palette knives to create expressive, textured effects in oil paint.
• Creating an Ocean Scene: Step-by-step guidance on completing an 8x10 canvas painting of a captivating ocean scene, using the techniques discussed.
Our number one goal is to have fun and be creative! Leave your imposter syndrome at the door, and I will try to do the same. The struggle is real!
