February in the Studio: A Shift Toward Spring
New wildflowers originals are loading!
February always feels like a month of transition. It’s still winter, but you can start to feel the tiniest shifts—the days stretching a little longer, the sunlight feeling just a touch warmer, and those early spring flowers bravely pushing up through the cold dirt. My daffodils are already starting to emerge, which is always my first sign that brighter days are ahead.
The warmer temperatures also meant we finally got to take the dogs for a walk at the beach for the first time in a long while! They ran, they sniffed, they rolled in the sand—and it was the perfect reminder that we all need fresh air, movement, and small moments of joy to break up the winter hibernation.
Petal Pirouette - this piece will be in the upcoming Square Foot Show featuring Expressionist pieces.
Upcoming Shows and Spring Florals
Inside the studio, I’ve been busy working on small floral pieces for a few upcoming shows. It feels so good to immerse myself in bright, happy color, knowing that spring isn’t far away. These smaller pieces always bring me so much joy, and I love how they let me play with texture, movement, and expressive palette knife strokes. I have four Expressionist florals that will be a part of the upcoming Square Foot Show on February 13th! I think this is my 5th time doing the show, what an honor. I have gained many international collectors from sharing my work this way. It is a lot of fun as it is now only 24 hours long, so it flies by. If you see a piece in the preview, you want to be locked and loaded the night the show opens to be sure to grab your favorite!
I’m also planning a Spring Floral Collection for March! This series will be a celebration of renewal, light, and color—think of all the joyful blooms that remind us winter won’t last forever. I can’t wait to share more as it comes together!
I also have something really special planned for later this spring—a collaborative art show with my sister, Hiedi! We are calling it Sisterly Impressions .This will be the first time we show our work together, and I’m so excited for the opportunity to share this experience with her now that she lives in Morehead City. More details will come in the next few months, but it’s going to be a wonderful time and I can’t wait to introduce you to her and her beautiful art.
As I look ahead to the rest of the year, my focus is on refining my craft, improving my photography skills, and shaping my art business in a way that feels true to me—not just following the crowd.
That brings me to my February Limited Edition Print! (See above.) Thank you for embracing this new way of collecting my prints. Shifting to only offering limited editions online allows me to offer more treasured, exclusive pieces while keeping my originals one-of-a-kind. Each signed and numbered print is only available for its release month—once the last day of the month passes, it’s gone! I truly appreciate the support as I explore this new chapter. These high-quality prints capture the texture, emotion, and essence of my originals, making it easier to collect your favorites throughout the year. Don’t miss out—February’s print disappears after the 29th!
I hope where ever you are this message finds you well~ Love, Annie
